hello, everyone, it’s kim hanyong from motorgraph today we’re going to meet genesis eq900 from hyundai it’s the ‘final round boss’ of all hyundai models since this car is aimed at younger customers compared to its predecessor, equus, there are some expectations as well as concerns about this car so, let’s check the changes and see its identitythrough the test drive as you might have heard from the previous review,feeling from the outside is totally different from what you feel inside its painting is amazingly glittering with its rich pearl shine

this blue color has quite a sophisticated name( neptune blue) last time when i saw this color, i thought it’s too light, like the blue jean color but today it looks darker and stately. it’s well refined i would like to suggest this blue color more amazingly, they made colors like these considering eq900 is the successor of equus, it’s amazing last time when i was participating in the equus test drive, all of them were black colors like white pearl, these are classy definitely classy with their pearl-shine color

i would like to know more about the behind stories related to these colors,but there is not much information from hyundai as you see here, drls also functions as turn signals motorgraph subscribers have already found that out, right? can you see the relation between this car and equus? well, i don’t really know. maybe some people can feel it the rear exterior is totally changed from equus in detail,but when you see this car from further away, the outline might look similar there is also a slight taste of jaguar. the overall exterior design and color look good to me let’s figure out the driving quality through the test drive sitting on the rear seat, you may feel something elegant four-seater model has the central tunnel

this head rest is not a typical one i guess hyundai had never made such a comfortable head rest like this. it’s very well made recently mercedes put a pillow on the s-class models here hyundai says they will sell the attach-type pillow as an accessory in the future. they say the pillow will be made with exactly the same material from italy of that used in the s-class anyway, they are completely benchmarking those luxurious cars their company positioning, brand, and materials… almost everything seat cushiness really hit the spot.you can adjust the head rest.you may also adjust the back of the seat.the seat can move back and forward you can even move the lumbar support up and down.this seat has many functions

of course this has functions like ventilation and heating this sync button is not syncing left and right, but front and rear.so you may control the overall temperature from the rear but why did you need this? do you need any temperature adjustment, mr. driver? sir, i’m going to make you feel comfortable am i supposed to do like this? it doesn’t have a touch sensor typical around view monitors show somehow unnatural visions especially on these areas, but the images are very well connected in this monitor when you turn the handle, you can see the front wheels slightly bent. this monitor provides a very detailed view actually when you drive the car while looking at this monitor, the front wheel is always vulnerable.but this monitor shows a detailed movement of the front wheel this around view monitoring system is wonderfully well made when parking, you need to move the car forward and backward several times but as soon as you shift the lever on d, it turns off. it turns off too quickly.i suppose it should last a little bit longer wow, handling is definitely better than i’ve expected this car is larger than equus.yet the body control is much easier

yeah, that’s amazing. what a decent handling nice actually i own a genesis 3.3 non-turbo model since mine and this one share the engine unit, i actually worried a little bit i thought like ‘how much will it change by just adding turbo on the same 3.3 engine.’ but totally different considering its size, there are not many models running like this many things are satisfying the driver i personally don’t like the change too much.this dashboard is similar to genesis’s i often drive s-class, and this display looks like the one i drive

anyway, i am satisfied with them another satisfying point is the handle. i like its diameter, feeling, the position of the paddle shift it is definitely made of plastic, but it feels solid i don’t feel like it’s going to break at some point the position of command dial is slightly closer to the driver, compared to the existing genesis model your arm should be in an awkward position to control this.not a perfect position, i think they say the buttons are ergonomically designed.but i don’t really feel these are ergonomic they say you can control the buttons with your hand on the gear lever, but why do you need to press buttons with your hand on the lever? am i supposed to control buttons like that? well, i don’t think so the letters on the buttons should be clearer and more uniform

people don’t care about things like this when the car is at the middle-low price range. but considering this car’s grade, it should be improved.the letters are not sharp. not very clear this dial controller is a little bit awkward. you need to turn 180 degrees to the right to maximize volume,but it’s not minimized if you turn 180 degrees to the left if i turn this dial too quickly, it cannot catch the rotating speed.when you need to quickly lessen the volume, it might feel too slow it’s hard to explain to this feeling. as a genesis owner, i used to feel the same thing uncomfortable. this problem is still not solved i guess there are two colors of high-pass unit.this car has a white unit it is too big. it obstructs the driver’s vision i will keep bringing up this problem until they improve this part. i want a thinner one. but it would be the best if the high-pass unit is not installed in this position

it’s better to install this unit inside the console box like smith pass head up display is very well made.head up display itself is good, but what makes it even better is it shows information from the navigation.the navigation is very useful usually the imported cars don’t have nice navigations, so some people don’t use the preinstalled onesinstead, they prefer separately mounted navigations.then the head up display is useless in this car, you can recognize how useful the head up display is we have just entered a highway.lkas is automatically turned on it keeps the car from running off the track i’m not touching the handle, but it keeps running why? why is it running for itself? wait, is lkas properly working?ah, it was working

when the car is off the track, it automatically turns the handle let’s see if it works on this bent road.functioning well. very well driving assist system works differently between highways and normal roads. on the normal roads, it works only if speed is above 60 kph on highways, it works from 0 kph.hyundai says that’s because the lanes might not be clear enough on the normal roads i guess there’s not much chance to be stuck in the highway traffic.it would be better if the car drives itself on the normal roads it would be better if the car drives itself on the normal roads. and you can enjoy manually driving your car on the highways i have heard from hyundai thatwhen this car is directing totally off the track,it turns the car with the assist of the brake system but there’s no way to experience it on a real road s-class can differently recognize the solid lines and broken lines. so when the car is about to cross the solid line or centerline

it breaks on the opposite side to turn the direction.but that function is not included in this genesis they say the drive assist system actually controls the break. but i can’t really feel it’s working anyway, there is no dramatic effect as in s-class let’s kick accelerator wow. you can definitely feel the difference when the turbo pressure hits the point you can feel the torque difference point this car has a twin-turbo, so you can feel a powerful torque even at a low rpm some people might think a twin-turbo is twice as powerful as a single-turbo,but actually their output is are same the difference is that a twin-turbo can have a smaller turbine unit

as the turbo propeller is smaller, it can accelerate quicker. it works better at a low rpm. actually, that is a huge advantage i can feel the torque even at a low rpm i think this car intentionally makes exhaust sound previous cars like equus tried to eliminate the exhaust sound, and were not prepared for the high-sound rpm range so when you full accelerate the car, you might feel the car is struggling this car doesn’t suppress the exhaust sound so i can feel its vigorous power let’s do the 0-100 test with three people on board, it records 5.8 seconds. amazingly fast this car was not made for 0-100 acceleration

who would evaluate an equus with its speed, acceleration, zero to hundred?and who would blame it if it’s not running that fast? it’s an equus however, this car is not an equus anymore. this is eq900(g90) now people can evaluate its acceleration, handling, suspension settings, and so on because this is really well made.so the nature of the car has totally changed now it is targeting younger people with a lot of money who would believe this car is the successor of equus? no traces of equus. now it’s much sportier i like this car very much. i really like the settings of this car, including suspension settings i mean, it is nice for me.i don’t know if the others would like this car. especially the ceos.i wonder if hyundai gave up targeting the ceos all right, so far we have seen an overview about the eq900. of course, the time was not enough. not enough for a detailed test
