hello friends of tixuz autos, how are you? today i find myself with a great friend who did us the favor of accepting the interview he works at motormexa acueduto, and is the manager of seminew cars, oscar. hello iâ´m oscar martinez and i work at motormexa acueducto its on periferico and the entrance to trompo magico right now we are here in guadalajara for anyone watching in latin america its very interesting to talk with oscar because he is an expert in the world of of seminew cars so there are a bunch of questions we have to ask him, about why the market for seminew cars is the state it is in

and who decides the prices? which we shall get to in a moment, oscar the first question that i have for you, why is there such a huge difference in price from a car that comes out of an agency for example you buy one, lets say a cherokee which costed you around 800,000 pesos and a year or two goes by and you go to an agency and they say they can give you 400,000 or 500,000 for it , and we the cars owners almost get a heart attack because of it, why so cheap? well, trying out a new car at an agency comes with a price after all of that you have to take away the i.v.a take away the i.s.r

depreciation year by year, and this makes the price that we will pay for it in two or three years be much lower at one point we did a study with some brands that maintained their value a little better and other that lost alot of value, you lost alot of money on them and we were looking at the case with cadilallac and other premiums which are the ones that suffer the most and others that keep their value very well, what do you attribute that to? you told us

about the iva and all that, but in terms of brands, whats going on? in terms of brands they have their differences obviously the more expensive the vehicle say premium, they lose much more value they are very good cars and obviously that makes the client feel like they have the best car, but this happens with all brands, the more equipped the car is the more value it loses. so your basically paying for the luxury, you pay for it at first, but you pay the price later when you try to sell it. thatâ´s right. another thing i wanted to ask you

with as many brands as there are avaliable, what would you recommend to people who are really stingy when it comes to buying cars and will later sell them, because we enthusiasts buy one and get bored of them 6 months to a year later and you want to buy the next one you turn it in with 8,000km and you lose way too much money on it and later just buy another one and so forth, what would you recommend as to what kinds of cars lose the least with how the market currently is in mexico

which are the cars that you could say its a good car that you will be able to sell back at a good price and it wonâ´t give you prblems because sometimes you get there with your car and the lots or agencies tell you that they wonâ´t buy it from you there are brands that have ad a fairly bad name for themselves for quite some time here in mexico and i imagine its the same for many countries in latin america but generally speaking, the only thing you should try to do when your buying a commercial vehicle at this time, 4 cylinders are the ones that hold their value better vehicles primarily from brands that have better resell values

are the japanese brands and in our case we have chrysler, and the jeep wrangler is the one with the highest resell value from all the vehicles we have, and there are brands that, depending on what segment we are talking about, but in general small cars with 4 cylinders are the ones with the highest resell values. your in charge of the seminew division at your agency whats the difference between buying a car at a seminew agency, like the one you work at or one of those lots that you can find on the corners of streets that one day they will be there, and another they will not.

is there a risk there? because i will sometimes think what if there is a problem with the documents? what if there is a problem with holdings? iâ´ve already had a problem where i was given bad documents and thats what i get for buying there, is there a difference? what would you say? of course there is, there are differences with every lot, there are lots which are very serrious and other lots that can disappear from one day to another lots that buy cars which still owe money to the financial company, but generally buying it at an agency will give you a higher level of security

because of how thoroughly the vehicle is checked over in terms of documents and mechanically, you can be sure when buying at an agency. i want to ask more thoroughly about the documentation but we will do that after the break. very well. we are going on a short break, donâ´t leave. hello friends if you want to buy a used or seminew car then i recommend the page tixuz.com, tixuz with a z, the biggest advantage you have there is that unlike most other pages tixuz is still an operation without cost for you come on in, youâ´ll quickly find the car your looking for or sell your own car much faster than you expected

tixuz.com, remember tixuz with a z. weâ´re back boys. and weâ´re back friends, we were talking with oscar here how is the situation with the documentation because if i go with you with my documents and i see that my documents are from the insurance company, would you as a buyer do you doubt them? or do you take them from anywhere? what happens here? yes, it actually matters alot, here at the agency we donâ´t buy recovered cars wheather they be lost completely or if they were stolen

we have that policy for customer assurance because unfortunately when a car has a report for being stolen or its reported as totaled, your very often botheres by the police they call you guys alot or what? no, they stop the cars with the excuse that the car has been reported as stolen- but doesnâ´t it get cancelled when they recover it? in theory yes, but it still has that bad mark and that car will always appear as if

it was stolen and then recovered. its like a married woman who got pregnant before she got married, the bad mark stays there. thats right. before the break you were telling me actually during the cut, about what happens when people come to you and say they bought their car in 200,000 and you want to give them 100,000 iâ´m exagerating here, and they say that the cheapest one theyâ´ve seen is at 180,000 why do you want to give me 10,000? why are there such huge differences from what you see on the internet? and when you get there

ready to sell your car to someone who will buy it what happens here? why is this situation here? this happens because we at the agency have the check the car for every little detail that might be failing in the car and has to be checked and fixed at the agency we have the check the documentation and obviously the agency needs to make a profit because its a business and what the client seeâ´s on the internet are the delusions that the owners have and what they think their cars cost, and not to mention that they probably arenâ´t sold at that price

thats simply what they are asking for, but from the time it gets put on to when it gets sold there is a big difference and as an agency we have to make a profit, and apart from that, the price we pay for the vehicle we also have to put money into it so it will be in good condition. how much do you make? can you tell us? percent wise how much does the agency make on a vehicle they buy? look using rounding the numbers there is about 8 to 10% profit margin for people who want to sell their cars, and see them on the internet

does that give you an idea of how much it costs? because a person like me might get excited thinking that my truck is worth 200, and i go see you and you tell me its not worth that much and iâ´ll say it again gives you parameters of what people are asking for their vehicles but many times they overestimate the value yes, saying something like my grandpa gave it to me, or my uncle gave it to me before passing away. and as i said before it also has to do with the brand, your not going to pay the same for a mercedes, a renault, toyota, every brand has its differences. and how do you guys check the prices? from what i understand that you take alot from the autometric guide, which weâ´ve made shows

based on the autometric guide, but which brings me to another question who the fuck makes the prices for the autometric guide? because imagine the owner of the autometric guide, and iâ´m renault and say heres some money to fix the numbers for my cars a little bit so that people will buy them more who puts those prices? the prices are an average of operations that are happening all across the country in terms of buying and selling vehicles so its not something like, because i am me, iâ´m going to say

this one sells for this much, its an average from registered establishments and how much they buy and sell them for is there some computer or some computer program where you can put the characteristics for your car and come up with a price for it? there isnâ´t a computer program for that i imagine it has to do with the documents you take to the financial company, how much i.v.a. you paid. but the autometric guide your telling me is based on average, but where do they get that information? and its not that i want to compete with them, i just want to know where they get this information

because the autometric guide is very killer for many vehicles you as a distributors, and people who are in the lots, you get there and they take out the little book and it looks like they are pulling out a gun and saying they are going to kill you because they look through the book and your wallet is going to get a beating, so where do they get that information? from what i understand, its the average of what people sell in this case in car agencies and car lots, their average buying and selling price from where exactly they get the information that is more of a secret. so you have an idea, but could that be manipulated? because you know mexico does everything. that could be the case

and anything could happen with the owner of the guide. another difficult topic while were here, now that no one is watching one, whats going on with lowring the kilometers on cars? i know it happens, and obviously i know your going to say we donâ´t do it but obviously your going to say you donâ´t, but i know it happens alot in the middleground. why donâ´t authorities do anything about it? is there revisions for it? or maybe iâ´m just talking shit and you say they get checked every five minutes and so on and so forth

what can you tell us about this? this is something that little can be done about. any agency, any lot, any person that knows someone who can lower the milage on the vehicle and leave it at whatever number you want, and we by policy, as you said we donâ´t do it, but in this case for the consumers the ideal would be to bring in your maintenance papers and look at the milege it was done at and what date it was done at for that umber to be close to what- but they act like they lost the book, as if it as stolen or something

that is what normaly happens when someone doubts the mileage on it this car is a 2013, how is it possible that it only has 25,000 miles on it? let me take a look at the papers. we lost the maintenance papers. and youâ´ve seen how advanced people are when it comes to changing the odometers because they change everything you see on the dashboard, they change the transmission the computer, they change everything- so thereâ´s no way to catch them. thats right, there is no way to catch them. but you as an old sea dog must have some way of knowing something is up, what

do you look at? what advice can you give us, for people who are buying it from an individual and they say it only has 5,000 kilometers and you say 5,000 kilometers but the pedals have been stepped on more than a cockroach so you ask how thats possible? the way a vehicle has been treated is everything at the time of buying you see a car thats steering wheel is very worn, the pedals very used and the seat is really worn having few kilometers is just not logical so really what they are doing there is manipulating what your looking at in terms of mileage

what you really have to look for is the state of the car in terms of both the bodywork and the upholstry, the steering wheel, pedals, steering wheel, you have to keep everything in mind. someone told me that on the outside you can paint it and everything but on the inside, especially with the dashboard and everything like that, its difficult to manipulate this because where are you going to get replacements? you should look more on the inside than the outside. how true is this? its true in part, seeing the car from the inside but there are many people who are very careless

people have brought in some 2015 models that are just- the dog drove them right? the car is full of dog hairs, chocolate milk spilt under the seat- they didnâ´t even wash it so it would look better. really worn out upholstry, the seats really scratched, as if they had the dog in there and never cut its nails, just very badly keept. and then they will say the car is new and only they drove it. how is that an advantage if only you drove it if its that badly keept. i think its worse for a woman to have it because they never even put water in it, they only put in gas, and it barely survives.

theres been cases where i open the hood to see if its damaged or anything and the woman says its the first time they have ever see that part of the car so they come around and they only put gas in it and get going. and speaking a little more in confidence weâ´ve talked alot here with sergio about how badly some brands have been trated, however with fair reason, because when they came to mexico they pulled alot of bullshit and im talking about renault, peugeot with the famous megane that sergio said broke down just by looking at them has that perception changed

you who are the guys who actially deal with them, or do you keep getting cars that when you see them you say, well this its over. you have a bit of everything, there really isnâ´t bad brands what it comes down to is how poorly the person keept up with the maintenance of the vehicle there are many renault vehicles that are very good we used to not buy renault or peugeot, but we are doing so now because people look for them llike the fluence the sandero, people look for these vehicles and they sell for a good price

and they are very good cars when people have maintained them properly. so what do you recommend for people? for the bastards to take care of their cars that they will later want to sell at a good price does the year matter very much? what matters more to you the care or the year? everything matters but how well cared for the car is what gives the car a higher resell value yeah? yeah. so is there a vehicle in the seminew division that these bitches from televisa would say has been vetted.

that you could say these are good, or fuck these. do these exist? there are brands that are harder to sell, but something that is vetted, you canâ´t really say anything because generally the hardest cars for agencies and lots to sell and really they tend to be good vehicles and i personally like them, but those would ve volvo, people generally donâ´t want to buy these once they are used. thats why its volvo for life right? because you keep it forever. thatâ´s right. but they are good cars and weâ´ve talked about them here another question i have for you, in terms of brands is there any brands that as soon as they come in you think to yourself we are keeping this one, is there cars that

you would take at whatever price because they sell so well yes there are. which would those be? honda, toyota, are the easiest ones to sell nissan as well, and in general japanese brands have very good resell values and do the american ones have that? or so so? in some cases yes, and in this case we would have the more economic vehicles if we are talking about chrysler the attitude has a good resell value

people look for those cars as well, the smaller ones too like the grand i10 in the case of hyundai, small trucks as well these are brands that are generally looked for, chevrolet the new trax, the mazda cx-5 - the crossovers thats right. theyâ´re hot comodities. yes, they are the ones that people look for the most. as an expert, when would you say its time to change vehicles, for example i bought a 2015 and were going on the year 2017, when do you think its time to say goodbye to that car and buy a new one, or buy a used one and say this one already gave what it was going to give, what would you recommend

for people, when is the best time in terms of depreciation, i know that there are many variables that change like the line or things like that but that you could say change over in about 2 or 3 years, what would you say? i donâ´t think i could really put a number in terms of years but rather it depends on everyones avaliable funds and the reason your changing if your changing over just to change the new vehicle and your car still has the warrenty, you have given it the proper maintenance then its not recommendable because your not going to get the worth of what you have invested into it and in general the warrenty for a vehicle lasts until 40,000km or 60,000km

and if your looking at that time, then it would be a good time to change over- so we would measure this in kilometers? 60,000 kilometers makes it old? well, not that its old per say but its not a little boy anymore, its going to have to bring itself to the dentist and all that. thats right. yes? yes. well oscar thank you very much were out of time, anything else tht you might want to say to our friends and everyone that is watching you? i would ilke to say to be careful when it comes to buying and selling vehicles given that our security

is not the best, be very careful who you lend your vehicle to who is going to try it out at the time of selling it, that problem does not exist at agencies and its secure, you get paid and maybe you wont make 5 or 10,000 more pesos but you wonâ´t have to go through that risk of taking a drive with a stranger and in the best of cases return to your home safely, and with us motormexa you can be 100% sure that our vehicles verified, and we also respect your warrenty and there wonâ´t be any problems with the documentation. that reminds me,

one last question, how true is it that about appropriations because you know there was a huge problem in mexico that some lots, i donâ´t want to say agencies because your part of an agency, you gave them your car, and they recieved it and they said weâ´re going to charge 13% or 8% or whatever, and a month went buy and the car didnâ´t sell so people wanted their cars back, and they would say yes but you have to pay us the 8%, and you say thats if it sold, and then theyâ´d say to read the fine print and realize that coming there meant automatically losing that 8% do you guys do that? no, we are under contract,

the minimum ammount of time that someone can leave a car is one month and if in that time the car does not sell then the car is returned without any fees. no fees? no fees. thats why its better to go to agencies. the fee is made only when the car is sold. and now that people are watching us here in guadalajara, where is your agency? for anyone who might want to go, who sees you as a trustworthy person. we are located at lateral periferico number 1086 entering valla real towards trompo magico by periferico and acueducto we are at your service. well friends we hope you liked the show
