exploring. has always been a strong driving force for man kind. curiosity and exploration is crucial to the way people continue to develop themselves. where we assume the challenge of traveling deeper into the unknown. the desire to challenge the limits has developed our world for centuries. for us, it was a way to develop our sport. we gathered a group of passionate sledders. who have a yearning to discover new environments and brake new ground. this may require traveling a lot of miles, and to go far into unexplored areas.

we want to explore the potential to ride on other locations than our familiar areas. dreams of surfing in meter deep snow, where no one previously has been... this is what drives us. this is what we love. it started out with a really bad winter. surprisingly high temperatures and what was supposed to come down like snow came as rain. nothing went our way

the local riding locations was unridable or felt to familiar. the realiazion came... we had to do something new! after many hours of planning and investigating terrain... studying lays and logistics of the world. we finally found a man on the internet. showing pictures of himself sledding in massive terrain. the man was from greenland. the decision was easy

we definitely needed to go there but we would need some help. my name is lars borris pedersen. i'm just turning forty yeas old. i'm from nuuk. i've been living here signs the beginning of the 90â´s. nuuk is the capital of greenland. it has 16000 inhabitants approximately, i would guess that one third would be danish speaking...

and two thirds would be greenlandic speaking. nuuk is called the worlds smallest biggest city. it is a... small city but you have a lot of stuff to do in it. off course, we are a little group that exploring new areas and so on... and it is only a little tiny piece of nuuk area we are discovering. so for you guys to discover more is just open, it is a open book... to do something even more crazy and so on. greenland. the worlds largest island

consisting of 85% ice. where we imagine a snowmobile paradise. covered in snow and crowded by polar bears. the trip to this extreme unknown country had just begun. we have soon loaded all sleds and equipment. two more sleds on the trailer and one more in the truck. so... you guys can start driving for gothenburg and catch the ferry for denmark. we're going to greenland!

with no chances of hiring snowmobiles on greenland. we would have to arrange a transport for our gear and sleds by ourselves. a task way more challenging than expected. this feels so awesome! now it's on. definitely on! to get our snowmobiles to greenland, we had to start with a 12 hour long drive to denmark... ..reaching the nearest greenland connected harbor. and a further 11 days crossing the north atlantic. with help from our local contact we got in touch with the greenlandic shipping company, royal arctic line. ral is the only supplier of all sea cargo to the island...

making them the greenland lifeline. we are unloading all sleds from the trailer to then load them into the container. then they will be on the boat to greenland for more than 6 days. it's all locked and loaded. now we're going to grab some food! i'm starving! then it's full speed all the way home again! we're loading the last stuff here in uppsala before it's time to leave for the airport.

..and tomorrow we are leaving for greenland via copenhagen! apparently it's been bad weather here the past days.. so the boat with our sled has been trapped on iceland due to stormy weather. it's approximately one day delayed. hopefully it will arrive in the harbor tomorrow. this means we've not been able to unload the sleds yet. i really hope they will have time to unload the ship tomorrow.. otherwise the toll will close, and we won't be able to get our sleds for the whole weekend. borris just called and told the boat is arriving within 5 minutes!

we will get down there immediately cause they are letting us get onto the boat to see our container get unloaded! yes, now we're on the way to the boat at the harbor. together with our contact at royal arctic line who have helped us out with this! shall we try to get you onboard? right now we're walking between the inner and outer hull of the ship. if the boat hits an iceberg is it these walls that protect it from sinking. like a double protection.

these doors are closed during transit. we are now under the deck of the ship. this is where the containers are loaded all the way to the bottom hull. -here we got them! our babies! just standing in the container waiting to rip some snow! they just got our container out now. they lift it easy as a coca cola bottle! now the toll will come to check the container.

we will be here to declare our cargo. -the container flies over my head right now! i'm very nervous about this. to see how our gear and sleds has survived the storm. it's been blowing winds over 40 m/s on the ocean. so we have no idea how it looks inside the container. i'm feeling.. a bit nervous actually! this is just feeling awesome!

we've unloaded all our stuff. everything turned out fine. nothing where damaged at all! so that's awesome! great start. no problems with the toll either! zo now we are waiting for a guy with a trailer. he will help us get the sleds away from the harbor. yep, now we've got all the sleds.

just load them onto the trailer and get them to the local snowmobile club. to do some minor adjustments. then we will be ready to rip! it will be fun! the locals are supporting us enormously in this! all the riders in the snowmobile club are extremely helpful! huge support! do you want help to carry that? we are bombing their place with our sleds.

they are so kind to us. look at their big garage that we have totally occupied! now it's time to hit the mountain our first ride on greenland! i'm really excited. to see what they have to offer! i guess it will be awesome! what do you think about us swedes coming here? it's great!

great opportunity to see greenland! and... new input to us guys who just ride up here in the mountains! to see how your machines works and so on... the drone! it's very cool! we haven't seen that one. it's news up here! when i went out here this morning i thought would need to move here! this day...

made all the work and all preparations for this trip so worth it! to travel half the way around our globe it's definitely worth it! just for one day riding! actually, i was pleased the first hour riding. we've seen things that only a very few people have done before. the views... with the mountains just growing up from the ocean.

together with sunshine and bluebird. i'm so glad we've got it on film! and how fortunate we are to have this awesome help from the locals! they are just supporting us to the fullest and helping us get everything run smooth! we will try to give something back to them! so tomorrow we will film some locals riding. we will try to split up the crew a bit. we will film some locals this morning. and hopefully the other guys have built some kickers to jump in the afternoon!

i think we will try to take you and linus back to the other side of the ice (fjord) again. and then further in to find some snow! the clock is around half past 11. and we're on our way out again! explore new places. find more places. it's sunday today. the third day we are here. and it's still bluebird outside. good conditions!

it's awesome. could not be better! we don't only have physical protection gear. we also got transceivers due to the risk of avalanches. steep terrain and so on... we are riding in high terrain so it's good to have a extra security if something turns out bad! the terrain here is a bit steeper than we are used to home in riksgrã¤nsen. so... it's a bit more sketchy!

so it's very necessary to be protected! of course it's important in riksgrã¤nsen also, for that matter! but here when we don't know the local areas so it feels safe if the friends can find me if something would go wrong! it's also important to have good knowledge about how the gear works and that everybody knows how to act in a situation. then we're as secure as we can be!

then it's all about respecting the nature cause its very big terrain up here. the first day we where here we had a going through all equipment. we dug down a receiver so we could train on a rescue mission and to brief the crew. trying out so the equipment was working. now we're going for a long trip. in new areas! i'm just hoping for the weather to get better! they say the weather can be better further in the mountains. i live in hope!

some fluffy powder riding would be awesome to find! where are you bringing us today? it's called qooqqut. there is a little summer camp in there, with a restaurant. but it's not open yet, unfortunately. it's a village? yes, it's a former village with 20 houses or so. in the summer a lot of people are sailing in there. taking a night there or just something to eat, and then sail back again to nuuk.

it's a real nice environment in there. and we got trees there! so we can do some tree riding! we're on our way to some place... that not so many people have visited before. i'm really excited to see it! it's a pretty log distance to it, but.. it will be fine! how far away are we now? i don't know for sure. i just emptied one tank of gas in the rs.

50km away maybe. it runs heavy today. the sled has to do it's task for sure! can you tell us where we are now lars? we are in qooqqut. how do you spell it? q-o-o-q-q-u-t there is a restaurant here that is open from may until october or something. there were two guys here preparing for the opening. he saw something moving...

he first thought it was a white big dog. but when it got closer he could see it was a polar bear. so he just ran in... and the polar bear tried to get inside. but he took some great pictures of it! are we satisfied with the day? yes. let's see if we find any more to ride on our way home. it's about one hour to home, right? it's 50km to home.

the clock is around seven at night, and we've been playing around here for three or four hours! the clock is half past ten. we have been out building kickers until now. so, now it's just eat and then straight to bed. it doesn’t run very smooth for me... the sleds engine has just broken in the middle of the mountains... on the middle of greenland! - you're a lucky guy that is among friends now!

greenland! a very steep island... this is where it decided to break. so now it stands there and feels ashamed. we have to figure out a way to get it home tomorrow. we tried get it home several times today. a few hours we have tried. but with no good result i'm sad to say. we got about half the way, then it was stop! we will try again tomorrow, and get it to the snowmobile club.

then we have to figure out the problem with it. to see how bad it is. we are going to svennes workshop to meet the groomer guy. svenne got us in touch with a guy wanting to help us build some jumps! so he would get down there soon to talk with us. lot of stuff is going on. now i'm going to the gas station to bring some fuel for the sleds. what are we doing jesper? checking out the lynx engine, that's broken. trying to find out what exactly is broken...

what have we done? we towed the beast! up a steep hill. it turned out really good! even though we thought it would not. short tracks! that’s what towed this beast all the way uphill. this feels good! one of the better landings i’ve got. so it feels really damn good!

it's been snowing the last couple of days. it has dumped about 1dm fresh snow. we've been sitting inside. prepping the cameras and gear... been playing some card games. driving around the town. not done too much. just been waiting for this day! this morning the weather didn't look that good either. it sucked actually!

continued snowfall and strong winds. but suddenly... the sky got all blue! the legs just get pushed together like straws on mc donald’s. down there you can die, i promise! my balls are finished! luckily, i got them emptied yesterday! otherwise the would have exploded by now. now the weather got bad again. we brought out a bbq and some speakers to enjoy the day...

but, suddenly the groomer guy decides to jump berglund’s kicker with his m1000. i was thinking i’m just going to speed check... and then... it just popped up! f**k, too slow! i was like... kabooom! the time is late as usual. we are up all night long before we gets ourselves some dinner. and then it's time to wake up again... like this morning. we are trying to get all this together in one week...

there's not so much energy to spare... when you wake up in the morning. you have to try rest yourself while you're in full action today is the last day we ride snowmobiles here. we have actually so much more to do here. i don't feel happy about going home... at all! no one does! everybody want to stay. we've met so amazing people here that have helped us out with all this. i'm sure we are going back here sometime!

that's damn sure! that decision is already made. what incredible people. and what a amazing nature. it's crazy that no one else have been here riding before. just thinking of this amazing nature. with the mountains rising straight up from the sea. and the crazy dump of snow. rocks pointing up even though it's this much snow. making me nervous if i dare riding there.

is it snow or is it ice? i'm sure all of us that made this trip will miss greenland. definitely the people and the nature here. it's a incredible place. thank you very much. you guys are freaking awesome. thank you very much for coming to greenland! i hope you guys will get back again! we got on a boat trip on the ocean.

the locals are showing us around the last day we are here. this is really amazing. it's so cool with all this ice. how many cubic meters of ice do you think is under the water? it's about 10 times bigger under the water! our captain is not a shy guy! he just keeps the boat at full speed. crossing in between the icebergs of a hundreds tones! how does that feel?

it's wonderful! it's fun to see david get afraid. he stands up every time we get close to a iceberg. "a lot of icebergs!" our time in greenland had come to an end. the next location for us to explore would be our home continent. committed to the task of exploration. we knew we had to go further than before... back home in sweden.

we went to pick up our returned sleds from greenland. and started our 2500km long drive to the very north of our country. riksgrã¤nsen. we are fueling up in abisko. soon arriving in riksgrã¤nsen! then we will met the other guys and girls. we are stowing everything for tomorrows excursion. food and stuff! lot of things to bring! much to remember.

cause we will be all alone up there in the mountains. so we have to make sure we get everything with us! the shopping list has been written and purchased. now we just have to stuff everything together and load it on the sleds. only this is a challenge bigger than expected. -david. it's time to head for the mountains now. you've got a one hour sleepover. it's time to get up!

damn... can't you see it takes a while getting up from here? what? it takes a while getting up from here! do you need some help? no... now we're ready. finished all the stowing. we are going out for a little mission. going into nowhere... to find some new places.

where not so many others has been riding. what are we bringing? a tent... loads of fuel! food! everything possible to last for a two day sleepover in the mountains. without getting back here. nice, let's go then? oh yes, let's ride!

our challenge was to get as far away as possible. to find some untouched areas here in sweden. a while ago... we left all visual traces from other riders. and then we've continued a far more longer from that in to the mountains. out in the wilderness! now we will dig us down to the ground. because our tent has a fireplace. otherwise the snow will melt.

so we are digging this hole now. to see how deep snow it is. this is feeling really great! cause this wouldn't be fun if it was raining. good morning! feels good to get outside. out from the tent. i've been sleeping like a sausage inside a sack. here at our field office we can solve the most problems. just with enough duct tape.

as soon i get this together we will go out start shooting. i feel this is getting real steady! it has been a great time up here in the mountains. the days has passed quickly. and we are getting low on fuel... and food also. even if we have food for tonight we wont have fuel enough to ride tomorrow up here. it feels good! i've got burnt by the sun though! we wasn't expecting this much sunshine!

13 empty cans of fuel! and fully fueled sleds. it will last for us just to get home! perfect calculated! we are going out to build some jumps in this shitty weather. so we are prepared for tomorrow. i'm not so super stoked on this... we tried to go up the mountains to build some jumps for tomorrow. but... it got totally flatlight.

it was like looking through a glass of milk. you could barely see your hand in front of yourself. i made it down in time following you to pick up our friend svend peter. he's coming all the way from greenland to ride with us! i'm super stoked to meet him again. i can tell you this. it is the last days we are riding here. this will be magical! this is sweden, this is where we live. this is where we usually ride.

today will be crazy! be ready with the camera, because today i will hit every damn jump i see! shit! it just molded blood from my nose when i hit the landing. a real nose blood hit. if you are a sucker, you have to last for hits like this. why go to greenland when you have a place like this? this is how it is. adam thomelius want to backflip this 50 meter step-down. i guess this will feel in my stomach...

you think so? adam thomelius is... a very energic boy... totally crazy in the head... a extremely skilled rider. he's the craziest idiot i know north of the equator! i think you crashed more nice than me! yeah, i guess so! it was a real damn spin i made. final day, going home tomorrow.

how do you feel about that? not so awesome! last day in riksgrã¤nsen... going out to chase some more airtime, hopefully. are you stoked? yeah, i’m starting to get pumped again. i'm really feeling teared up. but it's just bite the bullet and get going! it's the grande finale, and the sun is shining! so i guess it will be a great day again.

today we will go nuts! it's the last day... and i’m super stoked! yes, i’m stoked as hell! what do you say robin? you have any comment? i'm just so impressed of the boys that's making these backflips. it looks so rad. this was awesome! great feeling to nail it! this was my best peak for this winter.

now i can enjoy this all summer long... until next winter. then it's just right back at it again! damn, are you also going for it patrik? yes, i’m thinking of try this again... i would like to go for a revenge today. it would be nice to nail it! what is it you have in mind to do? backflips... that damn flip!

call the helicopter! tell them the gps-coordinates! easy! it hurts like hell in my leg! we have just finished the season. unfortunately... ...patrik crashed. unlucky, these things happens. he's been picked up by the ambulance helicopter.

we are now loading our trucks so we can head home and visit him at the hospital. he released the throttle a little to early in the air... so the sled stopped rotating. simply, he got to short. he hit the bar with his leg in the landing. that's something wrong with his leg. now winters last riding is done. time to pack up and go home. patrik recovered from the crash with a smashed leg and a broken thumb.

even though our season finale didn't turn out as planned... we feel urged to continue our exploration around the globe. if you think this is the end... don't worry... this is just... the beginning. welcome to japan
